Microsoft 365 exchange online vs. exchange on-premise

In general, it’s mandatory to have an active full Microsoft 365 / Office 365 business or education subscription to use our app.

While some of the functionality might work in self-hosted (Exchange) or hybrid scenarios, due to limitation on Microsoft side some features aren’t supported. Below you’ll find an overview:

Please note that we consider hybrid environments unsupported since we do not test this kind of setup with our app.

1 It is not reliable how Microsoft allows exchange on-premise users use MS Teams which is a cloud only solution using their same email addresses. There might be a copy from their directory.

2 With version 1* possible using calendars on exchange on-prem. However, there is no “official” support guarantee since March 2023.

3 Depending on the Outlook version and if you are using exchange online/on-premise the feature capabilities might vary (Exchange on-prem customers getting Outlook add-in version 4.8.23, which might not include support for certain customfields/bug fixes/dark mode etc., cf. [potential old] Not able to create issues when attachments are selected )
