Why will the COM add-in be deprecated in January 2026 and what does that mean?

Since our Outlook Email for Jira app comes historically from two ways of implementation we offered a choice for every customer to use the COM add-in or the Office add-in within Outlook to (e.g.) create Jira issues from an Outlook Email.

Since Microsoft released the new Outlook and pushing towards Cloud/web solution of Outlook we needed to make a decision regarding our future development.

Due to the incompatibility of COM add-ins with the new Outlook and Outlook on the web (Add-ins in the new Outlook for Windows | Microsoft Community Hub), we have made the decision to cease further feature development for our COM add-in. We anticipate that the current version of the COM add-in will continue to function smoothly, just as it has in the past. However, we will no longer be providing updates, although we are confident that it will remain operational as long as Microsoft continues to support the classic Outlook client.
