Atlassian Automation: Incoming Webhook Trigger Update

Atlassian has announced an update concerning the webhook trigger within automation rules: Update on Incoming Webhooks Trigger for Atlassian ... - Atlassian Community.

Previously, users could set up a rule using a webhook trigger with a designated webhook URL. However, this URL has now changed, and a secret has been added to the webhook trigger for enhanced security.

To configure a trigger in our Automation settings, you will now need to copy both the new webhook URL and the secret, and enter them into the appropriate fields.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Find affected rules: Filter your automation rules for the ‘Incoming webhook’ trigger.

  2. Copy new details: Open each rule and copy the new webhook URL and secret.

  3. Update the webhook within Microsoft 365 for Jira: Paste the new URL and secret into your Microsoft 365 automation trigger.

  4. Verify your changes: Check the audit log to confirm the update.

  5. Repeat for all rules: Make sure all webhook-based rules are updated before May 30, 2025.
